COOP TRADING

COOP Trading

PROJECT
In my work on Coop Trading's new office in Copenhagen, the core ambition was to create a space that not only served the functional needs of Coop Trading but also embodied the Nordic values, showcasing the company’s retail universe and products. The office needed to feel international in scope, representing the Nordic countries where Coop operates.

Central to the design was the integration of NORNORM. NORNORM was responsible for space planning and office furnishings - my role was to interpret Coop Trading’s vision for communication and atmosphere and translate it into a cohesive visual concept for the entire office.

Coop Trading chose NORNORM’s ‘Nordic Light’ concept, which exudes natural warmth and brightness. Since Coop Trading’s retail universe features bold colors, I decided for softer, more subdued tones to create a bridge between their identity and the Nordic Light aesthetic.

I wanted NORNORM’s furniture to feel like it was selected for the visual design, rather than the other way around, ensuring a seamless integration of NORNORM’s concept, Coop Trading’s identity, and my own vision for the space.

My goal was to create a sense of warmth and tranquility. The office should feel unmistakably like Coop Trading’s space while maintaining an atmosphere of lightness and focus. Moving from separate offices to an open-plan workspace meant that the overall emphasis was on creating a calm and inviting environment—bold graphic elements in key areas, complemented by understated surfaces elsewhere. The idea was always to let the corporate identity shine through in the meeting rooms, giving employees the flexibility to choose how much visual stimulation they want in their surroundings.

Particular attention was given to the kitchen areas, which, despite their functional requirements, exude a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. These spaces have quickly become a favorite feature of the office, offering both a practical space for daily use, large scale meeting and broadcasting.
